| Dear Friends:
We've received several items of furniture and household items this month. Thank you. WEB SITE Our web site is now online. Please take a few minutes to visit us at www.loveinactionintl.org We welcome your comments and suggestions. If you have an e-mail address, please let us know. Communicating by e-mail is much more cost effective. KOSOVO Ismet, a young man from Kosovo who has lived in Dallas for several years, recently lost his sister to liver cancer. She and her husband, along with their four young children, recently returned to Kosovo from Switzerland where they had lived as refugees for the past year. In what was to be a futile effort to save his sister's life, Ismet brought her to Dallas' Baylor Hospital. After a short stay, she returned to Kosovo where she spent her last days with her family. This situation emphasizes how little is being done to improve conditions in Kosovo hospitals which are lacking basic equipment and medicine. KFOR forces are treating emergencies from their temporary medical units. Ismet has asked Love In Action Int'l to consider sending hospital equipment into Kosovo (specifically to Pia and Pristina). He would help co-ordinate delivery and installation. |
KOSOVO REFUGEES
It has been more than a year since refugees began arriving in Dallas from Kosovo. The groups first to arrive came for medical treatment on visitor's visas. Their challenge has been to remain here. Those arriving later were granted refugee status. Florie has had special problems because of her husband's return to Kosovo. Her baby is nine months old, and she faces all the difficulties of a single parent family. The good news is that earlier this month Florie began working for Dallas Day School, where childcare is provided for her baby. What an answer to our prayers! Many of us are smiling. WEST DALLAS Mabel and James Armstrong operate an after-school program for children living in the projects. They provide the children with a snack and help with homework. The greatest gift they give is a safe place where people care. We recently sent them some beautiful things from a daycare that closed in this area. We also send toys and food items when they are available. Thank you for making it possible for us to reach into other countries as well as across Dallas.
